The sailors from the ship MV Abdullah have returned after a scary trip at sea.At the Chattogram Port’s New Mooring Container Terminal, something unusual happened on a Tuesday afternoon. Among the busy sailors and workers, families gathered, eagerly waiting. The media were there too, watching as the tired but brave crew of MV Abdullah finished a journey that had been really dangerous but ended safely.
The families, excited to see their loved ones, had been waiting at the port for about a month since Somali pirates let the ship go. Noor Uddin’s wife was there too, with tears of joy in her eyes and a big smile. She said, “I’m so happy my husband is back with us. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever see him again…”
This afternoon, Atiqullah Khan brought his two-and-a-half-year-old son, Saad Bin Noor, to the port to welcome Noor Uddin. When Noor Uddin arrived, he held his son in his arms and gave him lots of kisses. Atiqullah Khan, who works as an officer on MV Abdullah, also had an emotional moment. He hugged his two daughters, Yashra Fatema and Unaiya Mahbin.
“I feel so happy to see my daughters again,” he said.
Remembering when they were released, Atiqullah said, “The pirates were very anxious that day; they were worried. Their main aim was to get away safely.”
Today around 4:00 pm, the 23 crew members of MV Abdullah arrived at the New Mooring Container Terminal in Chattogram port. It’s been about a month since Somali pirates let them go. They were kept by the pirates for about 33 days.
Yesterday at 6:00 pm, MV Abdullah stopped at Kutubdia in the Bay of Bengal. The crew got off there and then came to Chattogram port on another boat called MV Jahan Moni-3.
